Our History

The Radiant Wellness Conclave is an offering of URBAN WELLNESS to the city of Chennai by the Radiant Group of Companies. It was founded after due deliberation by renowned Wellness Expert Dr Renuka David and patronized by Col David Devasahayam, the Chairman of the Group. Funded largely by the Radiant Foundation, the proceeds of the Conclave go towards the Group’s CSR initiative in Destitute Management.

What makes us Different?

Urban Wellness is today a burning issue. There is a need for a platform to address this issue. The Radiant Wellness Conclave attempts to fulfil this by bringing notable and successful personalities of the stature of Nandita Das, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Milkha Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Vir Sanghvi and Madhavan to deliver power packed motivational lectures on well-being. This year has yet another list of sterling speakers.

9 Dimensions of Wellness

Wellness is a holistic concept that needs to be addressed from inside out by managing all the factors that contribute to it. The nine dimensions that are part of the RWC form a complete chakra of interconnected and mutually dependent needs of a human being. The Conclave is all about addressing these needs to shape individuals who are proactive in managing their lifestyles to reach their full potential.

An alumnus of Coimbatore Medical College, Dr Renuka David has had a long, illustrious career as a medical doctor spanning over two decades. She is a medical expert on wellness, preventive healthcare, weight and age management, and has received many awards for her contribution to the cause of wellness and preventive healthcare.

Founder of SNEHA
Dr. Lakshmi Vijayakumar is known for her research on Suicidal Prevention Strategies. She founded Sneha in 1986, India's premier suicide prevention centre. She was instrumental in the inclusion of suicide prevention in the National Mental Health Policy of India and she is currently working towards decriminalisation of attempted suicide.

Subedar Major Yogendra Singh Yadav PVC is a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army, who was awarded the highest Indian military honour, the Param Vir Chakra, for his 4th July 1999 action during the Kargil War. Aged 19 when he received the decoration, he is recorded as the y oungest person to e ver be awarded the Param Vir Chakra

Abhinav Bindra is a former World and Olympic champion in the 10 metre Air Rifle event. He became the first Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games. He is also the first and only Indian to have held both the World and Olympic titles at the same time, having won the gold at the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships.

D. Suresh has revolutionised the way he lives by using solar energy for his daily needs. Suresh, popularly known as Solar Suresh, lives his life the renewable way — his home is completely solar-powered. He starts his mornings by brewing coffee on a stove which runs on bio-gas and has the water for his bath heated by a solar-powered heater. A resident of Kilpauk, Suresh is a graduate of IIT-Madras and IIMAhmedabad and has worked as a marketing executive in textile companies where he rose to become the MD of a textile group.
